A complete line succeeds when every interface and operating state is defined as carefully as the individual machines.

How is the bottleneck of a packaging line identified?

The bottleneck is the operation or recurring constraint that limits sustainable output under the agreed product, format and staffing conditions. Identify it with a process map and timed observations that include replenishment, quality checks, minor stops and recovery—not only nominal machine rates.

What should happen when one machine stops?

The line should enter a defined state that protects product and operators, prevents uncontrolled accumulation and supports a safe restart. The required response differs by process; for example, open containers, heated seal tools and filled-but-uncapped packs may need specific handling.

Plan stop and interlock logic

Who is responsible for interfaces between machines?

Interface responsibility should be named in the project scope for mechanical transfers, electrical signals, guarding, utilities, controls, documentation and acceptance. Gaps often occur when each machine works alone but no party owns the complete line behaviour.

What drawings are useful before a packaging line is ordered?

Provide a scaled site layout, access routes, floor and ceiling constraints, utilities, existing machine interfaces and the required product flow. Pack and component drawings support machine detail, while the site drawing supports the line arrangement.
