Pre-installation review
The installation plan should confirm the machine location, access route, floor condition, working clearances, utilities, extraction or drainage, product supply and the interfaces with existing equipment. Container and material flow should be checked against operator access, cleaning, maintenance and emergency-stop arrangements. Where machinery is added to an existing line, provide drawings, photographs, control information and the dimensions and speeds of the equipment on both sides of the new process.
Responsibilities should be clear before delivery. This includes unloading and positioning, electrical and pneumatic connection, guarding interfaces, product and packaging samples, trial materials, waste handling and the personnel available for commissioning and training. Product-specific hazards, cleaning chemicals and local safety controls remain part of the site assessment and should be reviewed with competent personnel.
Commissioning and acceptance evidence
Commissioning should confirm that the supplied configuration operates with the agreed samples and utilities. The test should cover start-up, steady production, stop and restart, low-material conditions, fault recovery, format change and cleaning access where these are within scope. Acceptance criteria must describe how fill, closure, label, seal, code, pack condition or transfer performance will be observed. Any numerical criterion should include the measurement method and test conditions.
Settings, change parts and approved samples should be identified during handover. Operators need the normal start, stop, replenishment, inspection, changeover and cleaning routines; setters and maintenance personnel need safe manual functions, isolation requirements, fault information and wear-part inspection points. Documentation should reflect the supplied build rather than a generic machine family.
Aftercare and retrofit decisions
Support is more effective when the machine identity, symptoms, recent changes and fault evidence are provided at the start. Photographs, videos, alarm messages, input/output status and a record of parts already changed can help separate a component fault from a product, packaging or setup issue. For retrofit work, also review guarding, controls, obsolete components, available documentation and the effect of the change on the complete machine or line.
