Questions to answer before specifying a machine

Selection criteria for automation enquiries

Before choosing equipment, define the product, container, closure, label, film or pack format, then consider the operators and space around the machine. The same product may need a different machine depending on whether the priority is clean changeover, compact footprint, repeatability, integration into an existing conveyor or reduced manual handling.

Common issues to check include foaming liquids, viscous or particulate products, dusty powders, fragile granules, unstable bottles, caps that need orientation, labels that crease on curved surfaces, film that requires careful temperature control and packs that need buffering between operations. Trial samples are often the best way to confirm suitability where these variables are uncertain.

Use the guide with the machine selector, or move directly to the main categories: filling, capping, labelling, sealing and packing and shrinkwrapping.

Best starting point

Send samples and a short explanation of the current manual process. That usually reveals the critical issues faster than a generic machinery list.
