Choose the question that matches the current project stage

Move from a production problem to a testable brief

List every operation from empty-pack presentation to finished-pack removal. State what must be checked after each stage and what happens when a pack fails. This shows whether a standalone machine is enough or whether feeding, conveyors, coding, inspection and end-of-line equipment should be one project.

Include normal packaging variation. Flexible bottles, tapered jars, long dip tubes, transparent labels, gusseted pouches and dusty powders may behave differently from ideal samples.

Should a packaging application be defined by product or container?

Define the application through the product-pack combination. The same liquid may require different equipment in a bottle, pouch or tub, and the same bottle may behave differently with water, foaming detergent or viscous paste.

How many formats should be included in the first review?

Include every format that must run within the planned investment period, then identify the priority and difficult combinations. Excluding a low-volume but technically difficult format can lead to a machine that cannot meet the real production need.

What makes an application suitable for a sample trial?

A sample trial is valuable when product behaviour, component tolerances, feeding, sealing, label response or finished-pack acceptance cannot be confirmed from drawings alone. The trial should use representative materials and predefined observations.

When should an application be divided into stages?

A project can be divided into stages when each stage has a useful standalone outcome and future interfaces are reserved. Define working heights, line direction, controls, space and access early so later automation does not require avoidable rework.
